First, let's break it down to the basics of what we are actually medicating with and the chemical components of what happens when we inhale -

Our bodies actually have endocannabinoid receptors throughout, which help control our mood, stimulate our appetites, and make us sleepy.

The Trichomes that sit on each leaf carry different THC contents. As well as different Terpene profiles - which is why some strains smell different than others. These are different terpenes and their common characteristics.

Limonene - Citrusy Lemony Scent- Stress Reliever - Uplifting Mood - Anti Anxiety - Cerebral

Pinene - Piney Fruity Scent - Creativity - Alertness - Euphoria - Anti Inflammation - Motivation

Myrcene- Earthy Scent - Sedation - Body Tingling - Relaxation - Antioxidant - Insomnia / Pain Relief

Linalool - Sweet Grape Lavender Scent - Calming - Relaxing  - Tranquil - Pain Relief & Anti Anxiety

Caryophyllene - Spicy Gassy Scent - Relaxing and Stimulating - Mood Uplift - Chronic Pain

Humulene - Hoppy Woody Scent - Mood Boosting - Creative - Talkative - Entertained - Pain Relief

These components

Combined with different types of THC and CBD, make us feel the way we want to feel.

Yes there are different types of THC and CBD - let's dive deeper.

THC is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol -the psychotropic contained in cannabis that makes everything work. Products are typically broken down and measured by their active THC content. THC is what makes you feel and what helps you take a nice weed trip. THC is what gets us HIGH.

Other than THC there are a few other cannabinoids that are found in some strains that have interesting properties

Delta 9 THC - Stimulates appetite, suppresses muscle spasms and relieves pain.

THCA does all of the above but it may make you more sleepy than a strain without THCA

THC V is a rare component. It is an appetite suppressant, energy inducer, seizure aid, pain reliever and all around wellness tool. Its strains tend to uplift you and keep you energetic.

Now let's talk a bit about CBD

CBD or Cannabidiol is the nonpsychoactive component of the plant, although it is only one of many more cannabinoids found in Cannabis, It is widely recognized for its Medicinal properties. CBD isn't going to get you high and in fact, may help you come down if you are too high. CBD is going to help you feel "painless" and hope to make it sort of go away as opposed to drowning out the pain in THC. CBD is known to be a vasorelaxant, immunosuppressant, nausea calmer - and overall wellness essential tool.

A few other notable cannabinoids are CBG, CBN, CBD, which are going to be great in the Pain Relieving, Anti Inflammation, Pain management and overall wellness categories.

Once again, all cannabis components react differently to different endocannabinoid systems - we are all different and results may vary. Consult a medical physician for medical advice.

So, now you know what makes up the inside of the flower and what really is happening to us when we feel certain ways after ingesting medical cannabis - strains and products are typically broken down into Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid.

Indica Strains - are going to be ones with more Humulene, Caryophyllene, and Linalool - Traditional Strains are Fire OG, Grape Ape, Granddaddy Purple. These strains are going to make you relaxed, hungry, stimulated by all senses, and sometimes sleepy. Think - indica, in - da - couch.

Sativa strains are going to be more Limonene and Pinene - they are going to sometimes have a fruity pine scent. They are going to get you energized, creative, uplifted, euphoric, and ready to take on the world. Sativa Strains are better for daytime and keeping one from being a "stoner." Look for Pineapple, Blue Dream, Lemon Haze to get you in that anything can happen mindset!

Hybrid strains are anything in the middle, or a combination of both characteristics. Hybrid strains are a cross between multiple strains. Think Girl Scout Cookies, Gorilla Glue are typical strains. These strains both portray a cerebral activity that is sativa - like but also provides that body relaxation that you would want from an indica. Not a total body couch lock high but definitely comes with pain reducing properties. Lock on these strains to produce maximum creativity and an all around good time.
